Be a Better Woman As of January 1st 2010...

Go to the gym.
Get organized.                          Be the woman you WANT this year...
Call mom more often.
Yawn...
Ever notice that you're making the same tired old resolutions every January? Maybe that's why they're usually old news before Valentine's Day rolls around. This year, why not skip the "lose the last five pounds" drama and resolve to make some changes that will genuinely make you a better person-and a happier woman-all year long? Who knows, you might just like the results so much that you stick with them for the next 11 months. Why not resolve to...
Stay Aware, Stay Safe
Crimes against women (including domestic violence, rape, and assault) are rising at an alarming rate. Not being a victim means becoming aware of your surroundings, making smart choices, and being actively involved in community and legal efforts. So make it a point to vote when it's something that matters to you. And the next time you and your chicas are planning a girl's night out, why not swap the martini lounge for a self defense class? It's a resolution that could end up saving your lives one day.
Stop Blaming Everything on the Guys
Every time a woman says that her man is "keeping her down" it sets back the rest of us at least fifty years. Taking responsibility for your actions is the first step to a healthier, more productive life-so stop laying the blame on anyone else, and accept that your life is what you make it. If it isn't working out quite the way you want it to, then now is the perfect time to make a change. (Even if that means dumping the dude that isn't in synch with your new way of thinking)
Make Yourself a Priority
It's so easy to lose track of your own wants and needs among those of every one else's. But if you don't carve out some time every day to make time for number one, no one else will. So resolve to do something nice for yourself every single day, whether it's a yoga class, a bubble bath, or something as simple as a glass of wine and your favorite television show on the DVR after the kids have gone to bed. It will be easier to be a better mom, friend, coworker, or superhero if you feel like your own needs are being met as well.
Be Supportive of Other Women
So often, women are each other's own worst enemies. Set aside the pettiness whenever possible- we're on the same team, after all. It doesn't mean that you have to agree with what everyone says, but there's no need to be purposefully hurtful either. Afford other women the same courtesy you would like to receive yourself-even in the face of disagreement or differing opinions.
