How to Wash Cashmere

Cashmere is a really fragile fabric, and should be dry cleaned or hand washed at a laundry store. Washing it actually makes it softer and makes the warmth greater. If you do not want to take the cashmere to a cleaner, washing it by yourself is possible if you know how to do it. Cashmere is quite delicate and not much force should be used because damage may be caused to the fibres. Sunlight can also cause it to go out of shape.
The label on your cashmere should be checked ahead of washing it, so to make sure it can really be hand washed. A knitted clothing can usually be washed although woven ones cannot and need to be dry cleaned. The label should still be checked because the specification might be different for your clothing. The detergent used should also be made especially for cashmere or for a delicate fabric as it may damage the fabric.
Method: 1. In a sink, the detergent is added to lukewarm water and mixed.
2. The clothing is submerged into the solution and squished by hands to soak the detergent into the fabric. The clothing is left in the mild detergent for about 15 min. and is massaged softly but only if needed.
3. The sink is drained and is filled with fresh lukewarm water. It is massaged gently again to rid the cashmere of any excess detergent in the fabric. This process is repeated as many times as necessary.
4. Lift the garment out of the sink and rid it of water by squeezing it gently and place the cashmere on a dry towel. Roll the clothing up as well as the towel and push on to it to squeeze out more water.
5. The cashmere is rolled our and is placed on a dry towel and air dried. Putting the towel and the clothing on a drying rack will fasten the drying-up process. Make sure that the cashmere is not in direct sunlight!

Now you are able to wash your cashmere clothing on your own. The process is quite simple if you think about it, and don't differ much from hand washing other fabrics. However, if the cashmere is tidied up while still wet, it will smell very unpleasant when you wear it next time. Cashmere clothing are cheaper to care for now because you can wash them yourself.Click Here!
